why blooming midwifery

a little bit about us…

Over the years I’ve worked in all areas of midwifery in many different settings – antenatal, birthing, the special care nursery, postnatal care and community visiting.

Most recently, prior to private practice, my focus had been in postnatal care and community visiting. It was here that my real passion grew. Watching women evolve from maidens to mothers, to watch their confidence and intuition grow. To see their families expand. To see mamas literally blossom before my eyes!

There is so much focus on birth, which is a glorious expansive shift, but we are mothers for the rest of our lives.

My purpose is to plant seeds so you can grow into motherhood.

Now working in private practice, I have the honour of working with women through their whole journey of pregnancy, birth and postpartum and its blooming beautiful!

what is private midwifery care

It is seeing the same midwife for your pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.

It is antenatal care tailored to your needs.

It is discussing recommended care, looking at the evidence relating to your options and discussing risks, benefits and alternatives.

It is respecting the decisions being made by YOU.

It is requesting and reviewing the results of blood tests, ultrasounds or any other screening you may decide to do.

It is referring you to the relevant health professional, should the need arise.

It is having appointments that don’t feel rushed, in a clinic space or your home without the ridiculous wait times.

It is acknowledging you are not just a woman with a baby in your belly. You are a partner, a sister, a daughter, a friend and pregnancy, while important, is just a small part of who you are and what’s important to you.

It is understanding your beliefs, your non-negotiables, your wants, your fears.

It is working through fears and blocks, some of which may not even be pregnancy related.

It is being on call, holding space, observing and providing care during your birth.

It is working collaboratively with whomever you choose to be a part of your birth team.

It is supporting breastfeeding.

It is supporting you to navigate any challenges.

It is observing baby, reassuring you they are well.

It is holding space for the hard times.

It is helping you to find yourself.

It is supporting you to transition into motherhood for the first or fifth or tenth time.

It is all this, and more.

about me

  • I’m a midwife and a mama to four awesome people who are not so little anymore.

I’ve worked in public and private hospitals and in a birth centre too. Now I’m in private practice and living my best life.

I love my garden and just flowers in general, reading, eating delicious food, going to the gym (so I can eat more food) and cups of tea (lots and lots of tea).

I love to laugh (send me all the memes) and I’m a little bit sweary.

I believe in family centred holistic midwifery which places women as the leaders in their care and supports them to connect with their baby, their body and awaken their intuition.

I incorporate natural modalities such as acupressure, reiki, essential oils and herbs together with education around antenatal, birth and postnatal care, including what to expect from the hospital environment, if a woman is choosing to birth there.

Midwifery is my passion and my soul’s work, I really can’t imagine doing anything else.

Welcome! It’s lovely to have you here x
